一名来自中国大陆的女移民于上月16日离开多伦多寓所后一直音讯全无，失踪18天后至3月6日被发现尸浮距多市以东约95公里的小镇霍普港(Port Hope)一条河中，警方认为死因有可疑，现正展开深入调查。

据多伦多警方消息透露，林燕华是来自中国的新移民，祖籍福建省，目前拥有永久居民身份，独居于多伦多市，于一间面包店任职，有一名亲密男朋友。她的母亲仍留在中国居住，有一个姐姐居于美国乔治亚州亚特兰大市(Atlanta Georgia)，警方已通知其姐有关林燕华的死讯，霍普港警方亦已与死者男友接触。 0 H& H& w" l2 T; ?6 L8 L3 o

PORT HOPE -- Police have identified the young woman, who was pulled from the Ganaraska River, on March 6. The name of the woman, a 23-year-old Toronto resident, is being withheld until her next of kin is notified though.

On March 7, an Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Unit was at the Port Hope harbour, as divers searched for more evidence. Deputy Chief Garry Hull said the water temperature was 2 C, which means divers had to limit their time in the water to one hour. The east pier was cordoned off while police continued their investigation. The divers were expected to complete their search by 1 p.m. Saturday.

Deputy Chief Hull said a fisherman called 911 just before 11 a.m. Friday morning to alert police about a woman's body in the water. When police arrived they found the body in the water, where the rock wall on the east pier begins.2 t- H/ @8 E. A, l) e X1 N

There were no obvious signs of trauma to the body, the deputy chief told Northumberland News.4 V {8 @' }0 ]% U, h
, \, q& `/ Q2 F5 K+ V5 F. ^& D1 rCoroner Dr. Ray Tesluk left the scene at 2:05 p.m. and the woman's body was taken to Toronto for an autopsy, the coroner said.
