( b0 d7 B  V" s, m" ~2 ~9 @megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution
+ n* p0 w2 e( E, ^. c, k% Wwithin a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color
0 w7 n. B+ h% V: X' s; Y7 w, B" Fmatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
2 j8 z" w4 i# q  B: y- \$ T! V5 p3 k3 nin low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
! p/ G. E& M  B: Kallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
9 }5 x6 T1 e, E. l+ cwithout having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
0 r: k" ]: h  U0 v8 o5 ?6 lwas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
  i( ~8 `& u) k6 y: E% }image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was
/ x( [# |( U8 r5 J* Z( Pwidely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
1 H) ]- q& o5 gconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,
: H9 u3 T4 @8 a5 kthanks to the D800.
When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
" A2 U7 `& A  f0 ~+ g; prange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
& m- R0 F- j, d$ ?. n, e& i$ Rthe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a
* G) l* N5 Y! m( \% lD-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as
) P2 {0 Y3 \; z9 f/ P  _well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
" E5 D5 m# e1 @' z( AAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor
$ b  T* z: q$ V. Y, Ehas noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
; u. R7 j0 C6 t6 E! G8 \6 Talso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
: N0 d4 z  }! k' C3 jin such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
prints and video.
9 ^+ p+ r. }" [1 {: q5 p- WTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
5 t$ O( B$ o! A: x1 D( E0 wnot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
+ r$ G" j# S/ A: Yare important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
) C$ l" f) t5 ~8 {+ E% Q# Ycountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
! U7 s7 h. n% e" @$ j# U" Tlike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
- L4 t& L4 v( j/ k; Wam enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
( O$ }' \# x/ o9 R5 gphotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
8 R/ J7 `; ?7 atremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
  \+ \4 @. m  l6 f8 l8 I5 zis that now I will think differently about the images I make.
  _3 ]! r; p9 X* Z" K' U6 KAs a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
compact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal
' x8 _$ l* d  p* h5 Hartistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for
the high-end 35mm D-SLR market. I have never worked with a 35mm digital
8 f! q2 H: r- b$ L/ wcamera that produces images with such exceptional quality and detail till
5 f1 j: p: r1 Enow. Particularly, the live view mode enables extremely precise compositions
and easy focusing in dim lighting, which simplifies my workflow. Superior
3 b8 V* r; Y+ a# Uquality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for
7 }* m- f4 k. f5 [6 c! E6 X8 |architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they
7 ?9 d" m1 F. mperfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
8 K- C4 R* h2 Rclean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility
to work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional
range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
